The DWA-556 Wireless N PCI Express Adapter is a draft 802.11n client device for desktop PCs with a PCI Express (PCIe) slot available. It is faster than 802.11g wireless adapters with the added benefit of PCI Express technology.

PCIe technology offers several advantages over the common PCI interface, such as a higher speeds between the adapter's board and the host computer and in addition has lower power requirements.

With three antennae, to make the most of Wireless N technology, this adapter provides wireless coverage that is up to 5 times further than 802.11g and raw data throughput of up to 300 Mbps. Wireless performance will be maximized by connecting this adapter to a Wireless N router or Access Point so users can stay connected from virtually anywhere in their home. It can also be used with 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networks to enable significantly improved reception.
